Historic Feature Gets a Modern Look

I was surprised to find that the polished brass crystal chandelier in the dining room was original to the house. In addition, all of the teardrop crystals were accounted for and in excellent condition.

I loved the idea of keeping the original chandelier, but I wasn’t a fan of the color and preferred a dark bronze instead.

The chandelier had not been clean or dusted in several years, so we removed the crystals and gave it a good cleaning. Next the chandelier was sprayed with a Rust-Oleum dark bronze. While the chandelier was drying the crystals were gently scrubbed with Dawn, and the wires tightened.

The dark bronze gives an updated and classic look, while maintaining the historical character of the original construction.
